What are the seven arenas?
The seven arenas are the seven battles every man will fight: being a man, money, selling, conflict, bullies, dating and divorce. The Silverback wrote one book per arena because each has its own laws, opponents, terrain and research base.
Theodore Roosevelt's man in the arena was talking about citizenship. The Silverback applies the metaphor more narrowly: your life is the arena, and the dust on your face is the only legitimate evidence that you turned up. But the arena is not one fight. The original manifesto identified six. The expanded edition adds a seventh, divorce, because pretending it is not its own arena was leaving blokes unarmed for the most expensive, most painful, most destabilising single event of their adult lives.
